What Is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy?
Recent medical discoveries have found a treatment that is able to naturally treat pain & injury known as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. PRP Therapy is safe and effective in treating various types of skin, muscle, tendon and bone injuries. This therapy is suitable for patients who want to try an alternative to surgery. The PRP Treatment is drug-free and promises shorter recovery period.

PRP therapy uses platelet rich plasma solution which is taken from patient's blood sample. The Platelets in our blood will release healing proteins called Growth Factor. Cumulatively, the growth factors will accelerate the healing process of injuries & damaged tissues or area receiving treatment. Therefore, recovery takes a shorter time naturally and risk-free.

PRP therapy is popular among athletes because it promises a faster healing period without needing to undergo a high-risk surgery. Some of the athletes who underwent PRP therapy are Tiger Woods, Pittsburgh Steelers, Hines Ward and Troy Palomalu.
Why PRP Therapy?
Our body has an amazing ability to heal itself. Upon the occurrence of any injury, the healing process will naturally take place to repair damaged tissue. The body will give a signal to platelets and other blood components to repair the skin, bone and other tissue injuries. Even so, some injuries face difficulty to heal on its own due to lack of blood circulation to the area.

Through medical advancement, PRP therapy is able to extract condensed platelet rich plasma solution and introduce it directly to the area that needs to be treated. This will help accelerate the body’s ability to heal.
PRP Therapy As Beauty Treatment
PRP therapy techniques that introduce rich solution plaletlet/ growth factor help to speed up the recovery of damaged tissues. This therapy is able to treat wrinkles and scars on the skin. Help the skin return smooth, bright and fade scars, making the patient looks younger.

This therapy is also known as the "Vampire facelift" in Hollywood and received a warm welcome among actress and socialite like Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian. A side from that, PRP therapy can stimulate new hair growth for  patients who suffer from hair loss problems.
How PRP Therapy Is Performed?
A small amount of blood will be taken from the patient. It will be inserted into a centrifuge machine where platelet rich plasma will be separated from other blood components. This solution will be injected into the injured area. The platelet rich plasma contains much higher growth factors than normal blood. Therefore collected growth factor in the injured area will accelerate the healing rate.

Duration of therapy varies widely among patients. Treatment may need to be performed one to three times to get desired results. This will entirely depend on the type and intensity of the injury or condition.
